Salesforce’s new enterprise AI benchmark says the quiet part out loud: companies are rolling out agents faster than they can integrate or govern them.
Most people will read that as a tooling gap. It’s deeper than that. This is what melt looks like: new capability dissolving old boundaries of approval, ownership, and oversight faster than the organization can rebuild them.
Once melt outruns capacity, the damage stops being linear. Ten agents across ten systems do not create ten risks. They create a mesh of permissions, handoffs, and failure paths that nobody fully sees and nobody fully owns.
That is why overflow is so dangerous. Not because the technology is mysterious, but because every new autonomous actor increases the number of invisible interactions inside the system.
Serious operators should stop counting deployed agents as progress. Count what you can actually see, audit, and shut down. If that number is lower, you are not scaling intelligence. You are scaling overflow.
