The fastest way to kill candor is to use Run Time accountability inside Ritual Time.
Run Time and Ritual Time are different modes. In Run Time, people answer for forecasts, decisions, and results. It is execution: act, score, own it.
Ritual Time is the protected interval for metabolizing error. A postmortem is the simplest example. In that room, accountability has to shift. Not away from standards, but toward the rules of the container: give reasons, tell the truth, attack the artifact rather than the person, and leave with a clear recognition or commitment. If you keep scoring performance while people are trying to surface what broke, they protect themselves instead of the work.
That matters now because more of organizational life is liminal. Tools, roles, and assumptions are changing faster than teams can absorb them. If you do not name the mode and change the form of accountability, you will not get learning under pressure. You will get management theater.
